The show was organised by the Gruppo Cinofilio Milanese, led by Mrs Jolanda F. Vandoni. The show was opened by Mrs Vandoni, Mr Tamas Jakkel, Member of the FCI Presisium; Mr Francesco Balducci, President of the ENCI (The Italian Kennel Club); and a representative of the main sponsor of the Show, Royal Canin Italy.
In the entry there weren’t too many foreign dogs, as more dog shows were held the same weekend, such as Nurnberg in Germany and Ljubljana in Slovenia, and it was seen in the line-up that more well known Italian faces were missing from this show. The Judges were very international, on both days there were more foreign judges than Italians. The UK was represented by Carol Coode, Ian Ganney and Bert Easdon.
There were more Club shows too, called “Raduno” in Italy, that are very important, because for the dogs the Italian Champion title can be won at club shows too. Saturday were ‘Raduno’ of Schnauzers and Pinschers, Leonbergers, Bulldogs, Dachshunds, Retrievers, and on Sunday for the Nordic breeds only, but it is a great club show with more rings.
In the final list of the winners we found a lot of Italian dogs, but one from Japan and one from Canada too. On Saturday was the judging of Terriers, Nordic and Sleddog breeds, Scenthounds, Pointing dogs and the Sighthounds. Sunday was Sheepdogs, Working Dogs, Dachshunds, Retrievers and Water Dogs and Companion Dogs.
BIS winner was the Karelian Bear Dog, Tsarshadow’s I Speak Of War, bred and owned in Canada by Dawne Deeley. Reserve BIS was Smash JP Take It All, a Black Toy Poodle, bred by Yukiko Omura and owned by Akiko Owada from Japan. Third was Cordarragh Rachmaninov, an Irish Setter bred by D. A. Farndell and owned by Alessandro Bertolini from Italy.
