The hottest show of the season

Not by being the most exciting or hard competition made this the hottest show of the Debrecen Double International, simply just the air temperature, it was one of the hottest weekends in Hungary, it was about 36-37 degrees in shade. For ten years now, two international dog shows have been held in a weekend. They are usually held around the 20th of August but this year they were held a month earlier on the 18th and 19th of July.

Unfortunately, this weekend was very warm, and the show was outside, on the agricultural show ground of the Debrecen University, a show area without any shadow. But the organisers built two great show tents, but it was not enough to make enough shade for everybody, fortunately the Hungarian (and foreigners too) exhibitors bring their own tents, and most of the people after the breed judging left the show area. In normal temperatures that area can be good and nice for an outside show, but in heat…

The organisers stand up vapour tents, and small dog pools, fortunately no dogs were sick or died. The entries were poor, 710 and 670 a day, maybe the least ever in Debrecen.
The judge palette consisted of 80% foreigner judges, Cristian Stefanescu (RO), Gabriela Ridarcikova (SK), Lokodi Zsolt (RO), Papp Laszlo (RO), Orcsik Istvan (SRB), Viva Maria Soleckyj Szpunar (PL), Harsányi Péter (H), Carol Wright (AUS), Sinisa Pavlovic (SRB), Gröschl Ferenc (H).

The exhibitors’ palette was very colourful, good Hungarian and foreign dogs, the first day BIS dog was from Latvia (just 1500km!), good USA or Russian dogs in Hungarian handlers’ hands, more exhibitors from Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine, from France, maybe a show with holiday…
