Welcome to the Amsterdam Winner Show
and the Eukanuba World Challenge 2015!
The BIS line up from The Winner Show in 2014
Vince Hogan writes..... December used to be the time of the year when the show season petered out towards Christmas. That is not the case anymore. In the UK we have British Utility Breeds speciality followed by a huge LKA show of some 10,000 dogs at Birminghams NEC. More on LKA elsewehere in this issue. In Europe things go a little crazy with big events in Sweden, Finland, Holland, Belgium and probably a few other countries thrown in.
Helsinki always hosts a massive two day winners special and in later December, the Brussels Dog Show goes ahead despite well publicised security issues in that country.
OUR DOGS will be supporting the Brussels team and will take a stand at the show just before Christmas. However, the big event in the Benelux region is the Winner Show in Amsterdam, now with the added bonus of the Eukanuba World Challenge. (EWC). Now in its second year at its new home in Amsterdam. The Eukanuba World Challenge is a great attraction and its staging there brings in many top dogs from around the globe.
The figures for the Winner Show bear out that fact and the Winner show itself will feature over 4,000 dogs and 294 different breeds, which is the highest number of different breeds ever seen in Holland. The UK has the Maltese as representative for the world challenge, having won the Champion Stakes in October, so best wishes to Sarah Jackson and, of course all the qualifiers.
OUR DOGS is pleased to be the International Media Partner for both events and will feature photos, videos and words through the many parts of our network at the time of the show. Subscribe for free to our You Tube channel dogs on TV for more! A feature of the show will be 19 Breeders Groups or Teams on Sunday a shame that we no longer have this competition in the UK although many breeders do miss this aspect from our shows. So good luck and safe travels to everyone who is on the road or flying in December... its not just Santa on his sleigh that will be busy in the coming weeks.
Just A Few Of The Competitors Taking Part In This Years EUKANUBA WORLD CHALLENGE
Sarah Jackson and Bandit (pictured above)
Sarah Jackson's Maltese “Bandit” stole the show at the Champion Stakes and will be off to Amsterdam to the Eukanuba World Challenge hoping to nab himself the big prize. OUR DOGS spoke to Sarah Jackson before she sets off to represent England in the Eukanuba World Challenge.
Winning the Champion Stakes was a “big acheivement. To win something like that is not like anything else against all those champion dogs.” They plan to travel by car as Ch Benatone Designer Label, known as Bandit, “is not like any old dog. He is sensitive.” Asked about her prospects in the competition she said, “It could be anybody's but Bandit is a good quality dog and he has as good a chance as any. “He could give any dog form any country a run for its money. He'll show well and he'll enjoy it.” She admitted appearing at the World Challenge will be “a bit nerve-racking” but she plans, “to have a good time.” “So long as we perform well and don't put a foot wrong that's all we can do.”
She will be facing stiff competition from all over the world, including another Maltese from Taiwan. More than 60 different countries will be represented from Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa. North and South America and the Caribbean. OUR DOGS wishes Sarah and “Bandit” the best of luck in Amsterdam.
