The last weekend of April and the 1st of May a triple International Shows was held in Hungary, the Budapest Grand Prix. The show was held in Budapest, at the International Fair, Hungexpo, in the biggest hall, organised by the Hungarian Kennel Club.

May 1 is a public holiday in Hungary, so the MEOE (the Hungarian KC) the weekend for a 3 day event, and exhibitors received a special offer. The dogs who got 3 CACs over the weekend got the Hungarian Champion title.

This was one of the four shows over the weekend organised by the MEOE, the most important events in the Hungarian show season.  There were more attractions too, interesting presentations (free trained horses, sheep herding, treibball – billiard for dogs with great gummi balls), mixed dogs’ exhibition, and this was the Crufts qualification show in Hungary too.

There was one catalogue for the 3 days, as usual, and makes it more economical. The judges on duty at the show were: Lidija Oklescen (SLO), Georgiy Onischenko (U), Refet Hadtic (BA), Jeff Horswell (UK), Eugene Yerusalemsky (RUS), Grzegorz Weron (PL), Orit Nevo (ISR), Dorota Witkowska (PL), Marie-Luise Doppelreiter (A), Clemete Grosso (I), Danilo Giorgio (I), Zafra Sirik (ISR). Each day there were about 1,000 entries. I think there were about 30 to 35% exhibitors from foreign countries. The big honour for the show this year were two of the judges. Crufts BIS Judge this year, Mr Jeff Horswell and the BIS Judge for the WDS 2016 in Moscow, Eugene Yerusalemsky from Russia.

The Ukrainian KC had a stand at the show to promose the EDS 2017 where you could get information about the show and accommodation and you could also enter the show as well. The UKC gave a special prize for the 3 BIS winners, they got an opportunity to enter one dog free for the EDS. The most popular breed of the weekend was the Cane Corso on Saturday with 39 entries.

There were also club show too, as usual in the afternoon, after the International Show breed judging. But the best additional show was the mixed dog show. For this show in all categories there were more than 120 dogs, the judging done by Zolee Ganxta (well known and popular Hungarian rapper), his daughter and one official Hungarian KC’s judge, Patricia Burunkai.
