International Dog Show, Lahti

Western Europe - Finland

Best in Show at the International Dog Show in Lahti, Finland on the 27th & 28th of April, was the Standard Poodle, W-12 Martina’s Massima, owned by Tiina & Markku Rilanko and Molli Nyman from Finland. Best in Show Judge was Miroslav Zidar (Slovenia).

Best in Show at the International Dog Show in Tampere, Finland on the 4th & 5th of May, was the Tibetan Terrier, CIB, FI CH EE CH LT CH W-12 Bristol Cream’s Grande Final, owned by Maarit Kultala from Finland. Best in Show Judge was Tapio Eerola.

Helsinki & Finnish Winner Shows

Every fifth Household in Finland has a dog. For many Finns, their dog is not only a member of their family, but a whole lifestyle with shows, training, sports trials and being involved in canine clubs locally or nationally. Agility, hunting and obedience training are among the most popular activities besides attending dog shows. Over 145,000 enthusiasts took part in different trials in the year 2011. Finnish Kennel Club is very active in promoting responsible dog ownership and proud to announce that out of 600,000 dogs in Finland about 450,000 are purebred.

A world record for the largest FCI one-day show was set by the Finnish Kennel Club on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Helsinki Winner International Dog Show that had entry of a little over 7,500 dogs and broken on Sunday December 9 at Finnish Winner International Dog Show with entry of over 8,100 dogs that competed in conformation rings for the prestigious titles.

At the International Dog Show in Kajaani, Finland on 12 & 13 January, 2013, Best in Show was the American Cocker Spaniel, CIB FI Ch, Fr Ch Ch Ch, Lu CH Very Vigie Eddy Mr Eddy, owned by Adeline Vancon & Sanna Vartiainen from Finland. BIS Judge was Ricky Loch-Romans from the Netherlands.
