It was a really international show when the VDH LV Nord held its two day show on the 4th and 5th of June 2011. The entry of 2,378 dogs was almost the same as last year.
Exhibitors came over from 12 different countries, with a very high number coming from the neighbouring scandinavian countries of Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland, but with others travelling the long way from Russia, Italy, Czech Republic and the USA. The judges list (seven countries) was also international e.g. from Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway with Frank Kane judging on both days from United Kingdom.
Visitors enjoyed the programme in the main events ring and the demonstrations on the green outside the hall, where man trailing, sledging and obedience was presented. For the eighth time a two day agility competition with 180 starters per day was included.
The wining dogs came from Denmark and Germany. Best Junior on Saturday went to Ditte Jorgensen (DK) English Cocker Spaniel Dan-L's Black Money. Sunday’s Best Junior was the American Akita, Black Akitas Believe In Me, bred and owned by Patricia & Johnny Christiansen (DK).
Saturday’s winner was for the third time in a row Flat Coated Retriever Ch Starworkers Legend Continues, bred and owned by Helle Nielsen (DK). This marvellous bitch lost against Sunday’s winner and Best in Show (Landessieger Schleswig-Holstein) in a rather hot competition on a bright day with summer temperatures in the hall. The winning dog was Olaf Wienholz (D) Mastiff Wizard Varvary Skifii, bred by I.V. Guzhvina (RUS). Judged was the BIS by Horst Kliebenstein from Germany.
