Sigurd Wilberg writes..... I was thrilled when I was invited to judge the Speciality for the International Club for Tibetan Breeds in Germany. It turned out that I had every reason to be because this was a very special show.
It took place in Grasellenback which is a small pictures village in the valleys south of Frankfurt on the way to Heidelberg. The show was held over two days and my co-judge was the charming Vija Lucniece from Latvia.
As at all shows we had a handful of excellent dogs a few good ones and some which were mainly there to support the club so the owners could take part in social aspect of the event. You couldn’t help being impressed by the best dogs, but what made this show different was the positive atmosphere and the friendly attitude from all participants. As a judge you always please the few and disappoint the many, but that didn’t make any difference at this show. The Exhibitors and the public were all smiles whatever I did. The spirit was high and people had fun.
On Saturday, Vija judged BIS and she gave it to Belinda van Rossum’s lovely Dutch junior Apso Dilemma Cavalli Just Cavalli which just floated around the ring. This exhibitor had a great show because on Sunday I gave BOB to her Ch. Padma Sambhava Mhy-Ron Mharong. On Sunday it was my turn to enter the big ring and I was totally taken by Sabine & Katja Rauhut’s fabulous Tibetan Terrier Ch Falamandus Remastered Edition. He was breed in Finland by T. Hakamo and I could easily have taken him home.
I also gave the Rauhuts BOS with Ragalia Delta Breze At Zoji earlier in the day. This was a very an impressive bitch which Vija had given BOB to on Saturday. In Tibetan Spaniels Vija and I agreed and we both gave BOB to the lovely Ch Asterix vom Seemerbuck which came from Switzerland. The last breed was Tibetan Mastiffs and this breed was dominated by Ch B’Chan An of Yang Yang.
This was one of the best Tib Mastiffs I have seen. He was an 9 years old Chinese import and he was BIS veteran on both days. When I look back at this show in the years to come I will first and foremost remember the family feeling which ran through the show and all the delicious cakes I couldn’t resist!”
