In a heavy handed move the FCI has sent a lawyer’s letter to the Norwegian Kennel Club (NKK) threatening it with up to two year’s expulsion. This is a particularly delicate situation, for it is the NKK which this year is due to host the FCI’s own European Winners Show in Oslo from 4th to 6th September.

The FCI has announced that the country of origin of the Tibetan Mastiff, Tibetan Terrier, Tibetan Spaniel, Lhasa Apso and Shih Tzu will change to China. A proposal has also been made to alter the country of patronage/development from the UK to China of the Chow-Chow, Shih-Tzu, Tibetan Terrier, Lhasa Apso and Tibetan Spaniel.

It may be that the UK is the only country that has so far gone as far as to insist on vet checks at dog shows. However, in Austria, which will later this week host the FCI World Dog Show in Salzburg, there are some very strict animal welfare laws.

Hungary, MEOE Featured

Written by
Considering the current situation that our member in Hungary, MEOE, is facing, the FCI members and the FCI General Committee wish to reiterate their full support to our very long-standing member that has been sharing our wonderful existence since 1933.

Members of the Kennel Club Judges Sub Committee recently held a meeting with representatives of the FCI to see if it might be possible to reach some compromise on the mutual recognition of judges at challenge certificate level - as between FCI counties and the UK.
