Have you ever been to a dog show where more or less everyone seems to be ‘in the pink’ or at the very least wearing something pink about their person? Well that’s an experience many dog people enjoyed in Helsinki recently as the bi annual Eukanuba Summer Show took place over three days just outside the city outskirts.

Best in Show (Saturday) in Rotterdam at the double show was the Bearded Collie, Beardie Connections Kenji, owned by M. C. H. B. Otto. BIS Judge was Ole Staunskjaer from Denmark. Best in Show (Sunday) in Rotterdam at the double show was the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, Caramel Apple v. Tum-Tum’s Vriendjes, owned by G. M. Huikeshoven from the Netherlands. BIS Judge was Mrs Ineke Zwaartman-Pinster.

Don't mistake the LKV Show in Genk for the Ambiorix Trophy that is also in Genk, both in the very same halls. The Haspengouwse Kynological Society is the youngest and had the ambition to have its own CACIB. As that caused a problem for the Belgian Kennel Club (same area, same halls, etc) it was decided that the CACIB was given alternatively to each club.

It is maybe one of Belgium's smallest shows, but one of the cosiest. The sports cente is surrounded by green and trees and you are half inside, half outside. You don't have the feeling of being in a hall. Inside its bright, although the contrast with outside is significant when the sun is shining, which was the case.

In a heavy handed move the FCI has sent a lawyer’s letter to the Norwegian Kennel Club (NKK) threatening it with up to two year’s expulsion. This is a particularly delicate situation, for it is the NKK which this year is due to host the FCI’s own European Winners Show in Oslo from 4th to 6th September.

WELL, THAT was a good one, wasn’t it?  My 29th Crufts (I know that’s just a short time compared to some!) but I think it was one of the busiest I’ve seen in a while; in fact the Kennel Club Chairman Steve Croxford announced on Sunday night that just over 166,500 people came through the door!
