SUPREME BEST IN SHOW OF 4 SUMMER NIGHT DOG SHOW, in Split, Croatia 2012 was the English Springer Spaniel, Sieger’s Pure Gold owned by Kaj Madsen and Brigit Brasch. Supreme Best in Show was judged by Mr Hiroshi Kamisato from Japan

I’ve been a lot of places and seen a lot of faces – for sure, and I’ve been attending most of the dogshow one has to attend, but never have I been participated in Split 4 Night Summershow.

Only one time before have I been in Croatia – of course in Zagreb at The World Show, so this year I decided to go to Split to experience the well-known show and to have a couple of days vacation. My traveling mate and dear friend Lotte never doubted a second that she wanted to come along.

With us had we one Springer, one Jack Russell and three Cockers. After two days of drive we finally arrived to the border of Croatia, knowing that soon we would be in Omis, near Spilt where we would be staying for the next week – only we were to discover how wrong we were. Causing very strong wind and heavy forest fire the highway was closed we were stock in traffic for nearly four hours.

Hours later we arrived in Omis, where we had rented an apartment. Now we were about to start two days of vacations before the show started, and of course it had to rain! Keeping up the good mood we decided to wait a few days with the beach and bikinis, and instead go for a run and a swim with the dogs, keeping the dogs in perfectly shape - causing the weather and rain the temperature was great for this purpose.

Thursday came before we noticed it, and suddenly we found ourselves in the car packed with cooling blankets, cold water, cooling elements and a lot of ventilators.

I have to admit what the high temperatures did worry me and I had concerns if the dogs were able to adapt to the heat. But having in mind that we had taking all the necessary precautions possible, I found peace.

The show started at 7 and already at 7:30 the sun had gone down, and the temperature dropped significantly and it was now to endure - both for people and dogs.

We started out by winning three Best of Breeds out of three possible. Before the finals we had quite an experience, as the organizers kindly asked all of the participants to join in the main ring for a dance – a dance which was recurring all four days, each day with more participants and even judges.

We really enjoyed watching this, as we boring Danes of course weren’t a part of the festive touch. I could start rolling out all the amazing wins we had throughout all the days, however I won’t. I believe winning Supreme Best In Show speaks for itself, however the criteria for being in the supreme final are only reached by four dogs, those dogs who are winning Best In Show one of the days, which ‘Amigo’ Sieger’s Pure Gold and I did on Saturday.

Only results I would like to share are the 12th Best of Breeds we won – Best of Breed with each breed all four days, and that winning four CAC means that ‘Amigo’ now is in possession of 32 CAC, still too young to become champion. We were thrilled, and we still are. Winning Supreme Best In Show was an amazing win, and I had absolutely never imagined this when we left from Denmark – you all may know the feeling ‘it will never happens to me?’.

But this time, this year at this show it did happen to ‘Amigo and me’. Me heart was beating hard throughout the Supreme Final and as the judge announced us as winners I as moved to tears and me eyes were desperate trying to find Lotte, to catch the ‘we did it’ look. Because we really did, Amigo, Sieger’s Pure Gold being only 20 month old.

Lotte had made it to Junior Supreme Best In Show with her Cocker bitch, so we were both flying high all through the night – packing the car and driving back to Denmark in one drive straight without sleep. Being back in Denmark and having to tell everyone about our trip, our wins, our experiences and our observations, I have to say that Split 4 Night Summer Show really is the show with that little extra.

The atmosphere around and in the main rain is really something. The showground was compact and the rings were all near to each other which made it possible to show different breeds in different rings.

The show organizers did a great job during all four days, and if any questions or need for help, we always knew who to turn to.

Everything has gone smoothly because of great people and organizers, and they all deserve our recognition and deeply thanks for a great show and a wonderful experience.

To everyone who still not has gone to Split 4 Night Summer Show and have this experience credited, maybe next year it is time to go? We will be back, for sure – Split, we will meet again J Last but least, never in my entire ‘dog-life’ I have won such a huge trophy like the one I took home from Split - Whether it is beautiful or not are for you to decide, however it is for sure remarkably and one of a kind…

Vibe Borregaard Madsen – Supreme BIS Sieger’s, Denmark Split, we will meet again

Best in Show Judge - HIROSHI KAMISATO (JAP)

First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to pay my sincere respects to the club organization which operated 4 days show, and like to thank to nominated me as part of judging panel members.

This 4 days show was very unique night show and thought it was well organized to run during the show without any major trouble. I have a state of confident hopefulness that this 4 Summer Nights show will be very favorable as well as become well known international show in the world. It was good condition of a location, well organized show rings for the individual judges with enough ring space for all the exhibitors, and my two young ring stewards were very helpful as they made me comfortable to judge each different breeds.

Plus, I truelly impressed by the quality of judging panel members, and as in fact that there was 35 different contries has participated for this special night show, thus this is to certify as great event.

I truelly enjoyed my assignments for those 4 Summer Nights show to be able to seen quality breeds, and it also provided me such great chance to watching other judges assignments. It was such great effort for me to be able to discuss or to shared different opinions about individual breeds with judges during the events.

I was quite overwhelmed with the exhibitor whom traveled from 35 different contries with thier precious dogs to enter this show at Split in Croatia as I understand that it would be hard to travel for some exhibitors. I was quite fortunate enough to be given as a Best In Show judge for this special show, and it was such spectacular experience for me to enter the main show ring before BIS with gladiators!!

It was truelly well coordinate effect in order to make all of us mesmerized by wonderful presentation. I have selected English Springer Spaniel from Denmark for my Best In Show, and very much impressed by the quality. And thought he was such excellent specimen.

At the end of the show, I was very satisfied and had such grateful Feelings towards to the four judges who chosen such quality 4 BIS dogs. In conclusion, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the club organization, and more particularly to Ante and Andrew Brace whom gave me such great opportunity to be part of this event. I am sure this will greatly further your success.
