4 Summer Night Shows Split 2018

Four Summer Night Dog Shows will be organised from July 26th till 29th 2018 in Split, by the Sporting Dogs Club – Split.

Wieze 2017 Featured

Written by
Best in Show at Wieze was the Irish Red Setter, Harko Dekellefleur, owned by Ilse Vermeiren from Belgium. BIS judge was Roger Vanhoenacker (Belgium).

Since the first time I covered the show of Aalst, many things have changed. From an old hall in the city of Aalst, the Committee decided to move the show to the famous Octoberhallen in Wieze.

The winner of BIS was the Scottish Terrier, Ch Quaint Quincent, owned by Arja Tuuliniemi and handled by Hilde Fredriksson. BIS Judge was Zeferino Silva (Portugal).

The outdoor show season starts at the beginning of May, but the Tampere International Show on the second weekend of May was still held indoors. The spring has been late this year, the weather has been very cold and we have got snow and hail even in the south of Finland.

Euro Dog Show 2017

Ukrainian Kennel Union has an honor to host the Euro Dog Show 2017 and welcome the guests from all over the world in the capital of Ukraine – Kyiv.

Brabo 2017 Featured

Written by
Best in Show at the Brabo 2017 show was the Group 9 winner, the Miniature Poodle, Curlfinch Jakira, owned by Kroes - Vink Corrie. Group Judge for Group 9 and also the BIS Judge was Mrs Degryze (Belgium).

It looks like the organisers of the Antwerp dog show, called Brabo dog show, decided to no longer have 50 per cent Belgian judges. Two years ago there was a very high entry of over 2,400 dogs, probably as it was a Crufts qualifier.

Best in Show at the Luxembourg springs how was the winner of Group 9, the Smooth Chihuahua, Dartan The Valiant Aladar, owned by Sandra Ludmir from Spain. BIS Judge was Mrs Liliane De Ridder-Onghena (Belgium).

With almost the very same number of entries as last year, the spring show of Luxembourg seems to remain high on the list of everyone who wants to start a champion career for their dog. Last years total number of entries was 4,560, and this year it was 4,551.

AKC judges approval process

Our Dogs was interested in a letter published recently in USA's dog magazine the Canine Chronicle. The American Kennel Club introduced a revolutionary - rather than evolutionary - new process for judges two years ago, which includes a Canine College, Mentoring, Workshop Study Groups and Judges Education Coordinators. We will not know for some time how successful the Judges Competency Framework introduced by our Kennel Club will be, but perhaps during the pilot stage of its introduction, we can learn from the AKC experience.

Spain is to ban the docking of dogs along with cropping ears, cutting vocal chords and removing their claws and teeth. Last week it was announced by the Scottish government that they were planning to relax their ban on docking and allow it for working and hunt point retrieve dogs.

Best in Show at Scottish Kennel Club judged by Mrs Sue Hewart-Chambers went to Melanie Harwood’s Miniature Poodle, Ch Minarets Best Kept Secret

The secret is out at SKC

Well it is no secret that the Best in Show winner is a beautiful dog and this win certainly pleased the ringside. Melanie Harwood had a smile as wide as the new Forth Bridge Crossing when she was awarded Best in Show.

Owned by Margaret Anderson, the Lhasa Apso was BIS winner of Crufts 2012 judged by Frank Kane

The world of dogs suffered a loss last week when Ch Zentarr Elizabeth passed away at the age of 12. Owned by Margaret Anderson, the Lhasa Apso was BIS winner of Crufts 2012 judged by Frank Kane, writes Lynn-Alexandria McKendrick Elizabeth was born on the 29th January 2005.
