It was a great honour for Jean and myself to be invited to judge the Finnish Specialty for the Belgian Shepherd Dogs in Seinajoki which is on the west coast of Finland.

Along with fellow specialist breeder judges, Craig and Julie Fynmore (Beljekali) from Australia and Hana Pisarcikova (Z Kovarny) from Czech Republic, we had drawn an entry of 320 on a day when Seinajoki was the hottest place in all of Europe with temperatures reaching a whopping 44 degrees...

Hana judged the Malinois and Laekenois, she gave BOB in Malinois to the beautiful male "Dream Du Crepuscule Des Loups" whilst in Laekenois she gave BOB to the lovely Champion female "Valkohampaan Fille Ferrari".

Julie judged the Groenendael males and found her CAC winner in "Wihmeran Anguirel" whilst Craig judged the Groenendael females and his CAC winner was the Italian bred "Certenotti-G Dell Alta Via", whom later was to be awarded BOB  under Julie. Jean had a nice entry of Tervueren males to oversee and her CAC winner was the three year old Champion male "Pjotr Deabei", a son of the top winning British bred "Ch Corsini Valentino".

I had a nice entry of Tervueren females and my CAC winner was an impressive five year old "Flammeus Freya Pretty". She would later go BOB under Jean and go forward to the BIS ring.

In the Best in Show ring, it was to be a good day for the Tervueren as Julie Fynmore gave the Best in Show to the Tervueren female "Flammeus Freya Pretty", with runner up the Groenendael female "Certenotti-G Dell Alta Via". I awarded the Best Puppy in Show to the Tervueren male "Traxa's Designed For Flammeus", whilst Jean gave Best Veteran in Show to the nine year old Tervueren Male "Mustantuiskun Zonathan". Best Breeder in show was awarded to the Groenendael kennel "Finn Noir".

We all survived the weather and enjoyed the wonderful hospitality and welcome of the Finnish Belgian Shepherd enthusiasts. How bizarre for us later to sit out enjoying a drink and talking about the dogs at midnight and it still bright daylight. Many thanks to Camilla and Jouni for making it such a wonderful weekend.
