Mr Walter Schicker, the well known all round judge from Germany had the honour to judge the finals on Sunday night and chose as his Best in Show winner the Australian Shepherd “Energies Paparazzi Energie Des Costys Du Tomberg”, owned by Sablery and handled by Viktoria Patzold.

This dog had to compete with the Best of Day winner from Saturday, Mirepoix's La Vrae Affaire, a Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen from Finland, which was chosen by Mr Jochen Eberhard beside the other group winners from the first day.

With a total entry of around 3,000 dogs and nearly 20,000 visitors a year, the International Dog Show of Nuremberg is one of the most important parts of the German show schedule.

Exhibitors and breeders weren’t afraid of travelling long distances in a cold winter to make themselves ready for the upcoming dog show events in the first part of 2012.

Peter Schön, organiser of the show, invited around 40 judges from six different countries to be on the panel; Rhodesian Ridgebacks had the highest entry with a total number of 98, judged by Mrs Gisa Schicker and Mrs Isolde Huber from Germany.

So pictured here were the winners of the first German Show of the year and we are all looking forward to a successful and fair dog show season this year.

Best in Show (Saturday) was the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, Mirepoix’s La Vrae Affaire, chosen by Judge Mr Jochen Eberhard.
