Beautiful weather, sunshine and a cool breeze allowed for a great day at this year’s NW&PBS, held under the gorgeous rolling hills of Malvern.
Parties took place around several of the breed rings, many celebrations for new champions and birthdays! Over at Royal Canin, Nancy and Clive Evans celebrated their 50th champion in Dobermanns, Ch Amazon Chanel For Alcumlow! Trade stands were in good attendance, unfortunately a few less due to the Houndshow being held the same day in Stafford! Overall there was 2214 dogs making 2503 entries!
The highest entry in the working group came from Boxers with 120 dogs and in the pastoral group, Shetland Sheepdogs had 132 dogs. The day began with the JHA semi-finals, Working judge, Stephen Gosling, chose Bow Wilson, handling a Bullmastiff as his 6-11 winner and Nicole Owles handling a Newfoundland as his 12-16 winner. Josh Henderson judged the pastoral semis and 6-11 was won by Isobel Khwaja with a Shetland Sheepdog and 12-16 was Abby Webb with a Bearded Collie. These handlers will now compete in the final at Discover Dogs in October this year!
Treasurer, Marilyn Scrutton then persuaded Ann to vacate her “Secretarial Bunker” to receive her gift and a bouquet of flowers, and also an appreciative round of applause from all the exhibitors round the ring. Ann will not be leaving NWPBS completely as she has agreed to be President of the Society, so will no doubt keep an eye on things and be able to enjoy future shows without having to worry about Secretarial responsibilities. Pastoral group The pastoral group was judged by Mr M James and he chose his winner as Nagrecha, Mattisson-Sandstrom and Sandstrom’s Pyrenean Mountain Dog, Ch Viskalys My Way Or No Way To Chandlimore.
